Charlene Ruto Launches Website Design Contest for Kenyan Youth with Sh 194,000 Prize
Charlene Ruto, daughter of President William Ruto, has announced a competition aimed at young Kenyans in the website design sector. Organized by The Young People’s Network International (TYPNI) and supported by Charlene, the contest offers a prize of $1,500 (approximately Sh 194,000) for the winners.
Interested participants must submit their entries by February 11, 2025, and should be between 18 and 35 years old. To enter, they must provide links to three of their created websites, a brief technical proposal for the TYPNI website, and the IDs and profiles of all three team members.
Since her father’s presidential tenure, Charlene has actively engaged in youth empowerment initiatives, meeting various leaders nationwide and participating in international forums with foreign dignitaries.
She previously stirred controversy by claiming her initiatives were managed through the “Office of the First Daughter,” prompting inquiries about her funding sources. In response, she clarified that this office operates as a private entity. “The Office of the First Daughter is a private entity. It’s neither a constitutional office nor funded by Kenyan taxpayers. The office exists solely to facilitate the activities and programs run by Ms. Charlene Ruto,” she stated.
She further noted that, although it is a private office, it has collaborated with various stakeholders to promote youth initiatives and advocate for climate change awareness.
