Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has warned Kenya Kwanza elected leaders not to lose focus and start playing politics.
Speaking on Tuesday, June 18 during the Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting at State House Nairobi, Mbarire said the Kenya Kwanza government promised Kenyans a lot of things ahead of the 2022 general elections.
She warned that if the promises were not kept, Kenyans would vote the President William Ruto-led government out of power in the 2027 general elections.“I believe each one of you wants to stay focused on what you promised the people in your counties.
I beg of you as the chair of UDA let us stay focused on what we promised the hustlers because if we don’t deliver those hustlers will send us out of power with a vengeance. Let us tone down on politics, it is not healthy. It is the wrong time,” said Mbarire.
The Embu governor went on to urge UDA politicians to stop premature 2032 succession politics, saying they should focus on helping President Ruto get re-elected by working for the electorate. She mentioned that even women are interested in vying for the top seat come 2032.
“Once Ruto gets his second term, Ndindi Nyoro, Aaron Cheruiyot, Kimani Ichung’wah, and any of you who want to climb up we will deal at that time.
“Some of you think it’s only men who want these seats, even us women are interested. Don’t bring a lot of stories like us women don’t have ambitions. Give us a break and let us deliver to Kenyans,” she added.
Mbarire’s remarks come amidst of speculations of a fallout between President Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
The DP has in recent days called out the president’s close allies accusing them of trying to interfere with the Mt Kenya politics.
