Arsenal have been understood to be in the market in search of a new striker, and the Gunners are reported to have identified Ajax’s center forward as their main target this summer.
As the Football Insider reports, Mikel Arteta’s side have entered the race to sign Ajax’s star, Brian Brobbey, to reinforce their attack ahead of the 2024/25 campaign..
The Gunners walked out of the race to land Napoli’s target man Victor Osimhen and Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres due to their high market values which Arsenal were not ready to meet.
Manchester United were also in the race to land Brobbey, but they opted to go for Bologna’s striker, Joshua Zirkzee.
Even though the deal is not advanced yet, Arsenal are said to be confident in landing their man, as he is available in the market for close to $40M.
The forward had a great campaign with Ajax, as he started in 41 of his 43 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists.
In a previous interview, the Dutch striker spoke about the prospect of joining Arsenal and playing in the Emirates Stadium, describing the Gunners as a “Very nice club.”
Brobbey is currently with the Netherlands team participating in the EURO 2024 in Germany, though he is yet to make an appearance for the Dutch National Team.
