Amisi is a Kenyan lawmaker. He revealed a conversation with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. This happened during the burial of a retired teacher in his constituency.
Amisi consulted with the African Union Commission (AUC) chair hopeful. He wanted to know why ODM-affiliated MPs were voting to impeach Gachagua. They wanted both the ousted DP and the President to go home. Amisi also warned President Ruto, stating that the head of state was walking on thin ice regarding his political future.
Amisi’s sentiments will likely cause ripples within the Kenya Kwanza regime, as ODM leaders are starting to find common ground with leaders affiliated with President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance. Raila Odinga clarified that his ODM party remains firmly within the Azimio la Umoja coalition, dismissing claims of a merger with the Kenya Kwanza government.
Ruto has tried to shun politics and allegiances in recent weeks, focusing on his party’s promises from 2022. On November 3, the President briefly alluded to his relationship with Odinga, saying he had put aside his differences with the former Prime Minister because their respective parties all had Kenya’s best interests at heart.
Ruto also urged leaders currently holding office to focus on the development agenda, aiming a parting shot at the impeached Gachagua.
