Gachagua’s Allies Defend DP Amid Reports of Surrender: Nyutu and Gakuya Speak Out

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is facing increasing pressure as discussions about his potential impeachment gain traction. His allies have acknowledged his likely removal. They cite President William Ruto’s strong support in Parliament.

This support follows a coalition with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. This situation has created a sense of resignation among Gachagua’s supporters. They are preparing for the possibility of a successful impeachment motion against him.

Senator Joe Nyutu spoke on behalf of Gachagua’s camp. He indicated that if the impeachment proceeds, they would withdraw their support from the ruling government. He stressed how important Gachagua’s position is.

To abandon him would equate to abandoning the entire region he symbolizes. This statement reflects the deep political implications of Gachagua’s potential ousting and the loyalty of his supporters.

In defense of Gachagua, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya dismissed the allegations against him, labeling them as largely fabricated. Gakuya argued that some perceive Gachagua as a bully. Still, there is no evidence of him having physically harmed anyone.

He criticized Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah for his harsh comments about Gachagua. He suggested that such remarks were unfounded. He believed they were politically motivated.

The political landscape surrounding Gachagua’s impeachment is fraught with tension, as various factions within the government express their views. Gakuya’s remarks highlight the divisions among lawmakers, with some calling for protection against perceived threats from Gachagua.

As the situation unfolds, we are unsure how Gachagua and his allies will handle the challenges. They must deal with the impeachment motion and the changing dynamics within the government.
