Kenyan Politician Criticized by Ugandan President.

Edwin Sifuna is the ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator. He responded to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s criticism of Kenyan MP Babu Owino.

Museveni criticized Owino for allegedly interfering in Ugandan politics. Sifuna objected to Museveni’s public reprimand of Owino on Kenyan soil, stating that diplomatic channels should have been used instead.

He emphasized that Kenya is a country governed by law. Any allegations against Owino should be addressed through proper channels.

Sifuna criticized Museveni for using a presidential platform to make accusations against a Kenyan citizen.

He highlighted the need for diplomatic protocols to be followed in such matters.

Museveni had expressed his disapproval of Owino’s involvement in Ugandan politics. He was endorsing Raila Odinga for the African Union Commission chairperson position.

The Ugandan President accused Owino of collaborating with anti-NRM groups, based on intelligence reports he claimed to have seen.

The incident occurred during Museveni’s visit to Nairobi, where he made the remarks about Owino’s alleged political activities.

Sifuna’s response underscored the importance of respecting diplomatic norms and addressing grievances through appropriate channels.

The clash between Museveni’s criticism and Sifuna’s defense of Owino highlights the complexities of regional political dynamics. It also shows the need for diplomatic decorum in handling inter-country disputes.
