Jimmy Wanjigi had gotten Kenya into a deal with a Chinese company to construct the new Greenfield terminals at the JKIA. The completion of this deal would have tied Kenya for 70 years and so, after many questions and doubts were raised about the deal, HE Uhuru Kenyatta rejected the deal.
The Chinese company that had been constructed to do the Greenfield terminals took Kenya to the arbitration court where the case was ongoing until President Ruto took power. Kenya negotiated an out-of-court settlement with the company, where Kenya paid around $6 million to the Chinese and had the case withdrawn.
The Chinese company took the money and disappeared. Jimmy Wanjigi expected to get a cut from both the Chinese company, which was represented by Jimmy Wanjigi’s running mate Pinky Pinky Ponky, and the government. Well, that didn’t happen thus his recent bitterness and anger towards Ruto and his administration.
His recent outbursts came after reports came out that the government of Kenya is planning to give the contract to build new terminals at JKIA to the Adani group company. All this noise from him isn’t because the government isn’t doing this or that to Wanjiku but because he has been denied the opportunity to have his hands in the cookie jar. It’s not new, we can remember the outbursts he had because of missing the opportunity to be a broker on the construction of the SGR during HE Uhuru’s term.
